DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — THE KINGS COUNTY Civil Court will honor the histories, cultures and contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities the afternoon of May 20 at 141 Livingston St. in the third floor jury room. This will be the Civil Court’s first-ever AAPI Heritage Month event.
Welcoming remarks will be provided by Hon. Carmen Pacheco, supervising judge of the Civil Court. Speakers will include Shahabuddeen Ally, administrative judge for the New York City Civil Court, in addition to various administrative and supervising judges. A special awards ceremony will also take place, honoring three court interpreters — Marie Morel Goldman, Juan Pozo and Margaret Stasik — for their more than 20 years of service to the Unified Court System.
The program, sponsored by the Kings County Subcommittee of the Equal Justice Implementation Committee and Kings County Civil and Housing Court judges, will feature pan-Asian inspired decor with artwork and books on display by Asian American artists and authors.
