BROWNSVILLE — HOUSE DEMOCRATIC LEADER Hakeem Jeffries announced Wednesday that he secured $1 million in Community Project Funding for three New York City Housing Authority developments in his Brooklyn district, according to a press release from his office.
The allocation for New York’s 8th Congressional District directs $500,000 toward roof repairs at the Van Dyke II Senior Center, $250,000 for security cameras at the Carter G. Woodson Houses and $250,000 for security upgrades at Kingsborough Extension. Jeffries visited the Van Dyke II Senior Center with Councilmembers Darlene Mealy and Chris Banks and NYCHA CEO Lisa Bova-Hiatt.
Tenant association leaders praised the investment, with Woodson Houses TA President Diane Johnson citing the need for hallway surveillance in her 25-story building.
