
EAST NEW YORK — A 40-YEAR-OLD man was gunned down outside 410 Wortman Ave., near Jerome Playground, at approximately 9:10 a.m. on Monday, PIX11 reports.
The victim, identified as Edwin Guevarez Jr., sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and right leg and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The assailant fled on foot; police described the suspect as wearing a ski mask, blue hooded sweatshirt, gray jeans and multicolored Jordans. No arrests have been made and the motive remains unclear.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. The 75th Precinct has recorded nine shootings and 11 victims so far in 2026, up from eight and 10 respectively at this point last year.
