
CITYWIDE – A MAN AND a woman were separately found dead outside in Brooklyn on Saturday morning, after a night of dangerously cold temperatures, NBC News reports. Two more men in Manhattan and one in Queens were discovered dead on Saturday, while another Queens man was found dead early Sunday morning, according to Gothamist.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced on Monday that an additional person had died, bringing the death total to seven at press time.
The city medical examiner is investigating the cause of death for all of the deceased. The first victim, a man in his thirties, was discovered on an outdoor staircase on Warren Street in brownstone Brooklyn, while the second victim, a woman in her sixties, was found in Canarsie.
City authorities have declared a Code Blue, and have dispatched teams to aid the homeless. Residents who notice people sleeping outdoors are encouraged to contact 911 or 311 to help them get inside.
