
GREENPOINT – A THREE-ALARM FIRE in the vicinity of Scott Avenue and Thomas Street is causing traffic delays, according to Notify NYC, the city’s emergency alert system. The site is a warehouse appearing to be owned by a transportation company at 485 Scott Ave., nearby the Kosciuszko Bridge, close to the water’s edge.
Area residents were told to shut their windows against the thick smoke. Fire officials told News 12 that the fire started around 3:45 p.m. in the back of the building; crews and ambulances lined up outside the scene.
Efforts to bring the fire under control were ongoing at press time.
