GREENPOINT — MORE THAN 20 Pomeranian-type dogs — including over 15 puppies — were seized from a Greenpoint apartment this week after police found them living in filthy, overcrowded conditions without reliable access to food or water, according to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The dogs were placed in the care of ASPCA, where they are undergoing veterinary forensic exams and treatment as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said the conditions violated animal cruelty laws and thanked the ASPCA for providing care.
Several dogs have since been transferred to the ASPCA’s newly opened Recovery & Rehabilitation Center in Pawling, New York, where they will remain pending legal disposition.
