CITYWIDE — NYC FERRY ON Monday announced a ferry route overhaul set to begin Dec. 8, aiming to cut travel times and costs.
Changes include splitting the East River route into two routes, combining the Soundview and Rockaway routes for a one-seat ride to Midtown, linking St. George in Staten Island to Brooklyn and the wider network, and giving South Brooklyn a direct Midtown run, as well as a 2026 summer weekend pilot to Bay Ridge and Sunset Park.
New landings are set for East Harlem at 125th Street and MADE-Bush Terminal in Sunset Park. Capacity investments include expanding the East 34th Street terminal and building a second homeport in Red Hook in 2027.
The NYC Economic Development Corporation also touted progress in reducing per-ride subsidies, which in FY25 hit a low of $8.33, and projected another $1 drop by 2028 with 14% ridership growth.
