CITYWIDE — AN EXPEDITED LAND USE REVIEW PROCEDURE, the creation of a digital city map, and moving local elections to Presidential election years for higher voter turnout are among the ballot initiatives on which public comment is sought this election season.
The NYC Campaign Finance Board is collecting comments through Friday, Sept. 12 on the six proposals on the ballot for this November’s municipal elections.
The proposals include creating a consolidated digital City Map, as opposed to keeping five separate borough maps with city operations; and a measure for fast-tracking a process for building more affordable-housing developments around the city. The objective is for the public to have an opportunity to state whether or not they favor each proposal before they get placed on the ballots. The website nycvotes.org explains each proposal and the impact it would have on the city.
The measure to move municipal elections, currently held in odd-numbered years, to Presidential election years would first have to receive approval from the State Attorney General before it can be included on the ballot.

SUNSET PARK — “As a resident of Marine Park, one of the great surprises I found biking around Industry City and visiting Japan Village was to discover Bush Terminal Park. I continue to be amazed at the serene hideaways that the city offers in some of the busiest places — and, still, with an iconic view.”
