CITYWIDE — NYS DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION and the state Department of Health on Tuesday issued an updated Air Quality Health Advisory through Wednesday for ozone in the Long Island and New York City Metro regions. The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The Air Quality Index is expected to exceed 100, which is in the unhealthy range for people in sensitive groups, such as those with cardiovascular disease or respiratory disease (like asthma), young children and the elderly.
Those who exercise or work outdoors should consider limiting strenuous physical activity when ozone levels are the highest (generally afternoon to early evening).
