BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — THE BEDFORD BRANCH of the Brooklyn Public Library in Bedford-Stuyvesant reopened Thursday after a four-year closure. The 1905 building underwent a $2.4 million renovation, including a new HVAC system, LED lighting, a modernized elevator, updated flooring, fresh landscaping and an adult learning center with new classrooms. A festive grand opening drew families and local leaders, celebrating the return of the community hub.
“As the first public library in the borough, Bedford Library has provided Brooklynites space to explore their interests, read great books and connect with one another for over 125 years,” Linda Johnson, BPL president and CEO, said in a statement.
