FLATBUSH/MIDWOOD — BROOKLYN COLLEGE is one of five CUNY colleges that The Princeton Review has listed as one of “the Best 389 Colleges for 2024.” The recognition is based on survey and opinion data from 165,000 students who attend the schools and also went to Baruch, City College, Hunter and Queens College, all part of the City University of New York. Founded in 1847 as the nation’s first free public higher education institution, CUNY has seven community colleges, 11 senior colleges and seven graduate or professional institutions across five boroughs. More than 80% of the University’s graduates remain in New York, contributing to all aspects of the city’s economic, civic and cultural life and diversifying the city’s workforce in every sector.
CUNY’s graduates and faculty have received many prestigious honors, including 13 Nobel Prizes and 26 MacArthur “genius grants.” In 2020, Cheryl Carmichael, assistant professor of psychology at Brooklyn College, won a five-year $896,346 grant from the National Science Foundation to expand her research on relationship responsiveness. Assistant Professor of Chemistry Guillermo Gerona-Navarro, won a $1.57 million award from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences for his research on gene repression in potential cancer therapies.

SUNSET PARK — “As a resident of Marine Park, one of the great surprises I found biking around Industry City and visiting Japan Village was to discover Bush Terminal Park.
