ALBANY – IN THE WAKE of a second fatal shooting of a protester by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Minnesota last week, Governor Kathy Hochul on Sunday called for the ouster of Department of Homeland Security head Kristi Noem, Spectrum News reports, saying that Noem has “shown a profound disregard for human life.”
“Kristi Noem has forfeited her right to lead, and I’m calling on her to resign as Secretary of Homeland Security, or Donald Trump to do the right thing and just fire her. And if not, she must be removed or impeached,” Hochul said.
The Trump administration has said that the second shooting, of nurse Alex Pretti, was justified, claiming that Pretti was armed and aggressive. Hochul called the claim “a shameless, bold-faced lie,” and called on the public to watch the footage of the shooting.
