SOUTH BROOKLYN — COMMUNITY BOARD 6 VOTED on June 12 to approve the City of Yes for Housing Opportunity zoning text amendment supported by the Adams administration. The vote was “functionally unanimous,” the board said in a letter to Daniel Garodnick, chair of the NYC Planning Commission, with thirty-four members voting in favor and two abstaining. “We’ve now approved all three portions (Carbon Neutrality, Economic Opportunity, and Housing Opportunity) of the City of Yes initiative. We believe implementing COY will make New York City environmentally sound, economically equitable, and more affordable,” the board said.
The letter, signed by CB2 Chair Eric McClure and District Manager Mike Racioppo and shared via email, continued, “We still hope for a more comprehensive planning process but are happy to support and approve COY in its entirety.”
