CROWN HEIGHTS – FORMER PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON attended a groundbreaking ceremony for an expansion of the Anchor House Men’s Addiction Rehabilitation Facility on Bergen Street on Wednesday, along with other local elected officials, reports PIX 11 News.
The $18 million new facility will support 70 beds for men struggling with substance abuse, an issue Clinton said was highly personal to him, discussing his brother’s 50-year battle with addiction. The former president was there representing the Clinton Foundation’s Overdose Response Network.
“I believe in the God of second chances, and I’ve needed a lot of them,” Clinton told the crowd. “So this is a place of second chances. As long as there’s one person dying unnecessarily, keep going. Everybody counts, and everybody deserves a chance.”
Clinton also appeared in a video with Councilmember Chi Ossé, to say “Free Haiti.”
