CITYWIDE — CITY COUNCILMEMBER SHAHANA HANIF will convene a joint oversight hearing Friday at 1 p.m. with the Council’s Sanitation and Transportation committees to examine the city’s response to Winter Storm Fern, particularly snow removal and its impact on street accessibility.
“Lingering snow and ice endangered seniors, disabled New Yorkers, caregivers, and families. This is about accountability before the next storm,” Hanif wrote on X. The hearing will focus on agency response, sidewalk clearance and coordination.
The session is scheduled for Feb. 27, with testimony open to the public through the City Council’s website.
The review follows widespread complaints about uncleared sidewalks and hazardous street conditions in outer-borough neighborhoods after the January snowfall.
