BROWNSVILLE — TRIBUTES ARE POURING IN FOR FIREFIGHTER PATRICK BRADY, who died while fighting an apartment building fire late Saturday in East Flatbush. Brady, 42, an 11-year FDNY veteran, was dealing with the roof when he went into cardiac arrest, officials told The Daily News. The firefighters with him and other medics started life-saving measures on him, but he died after being rushed to Brookdale Hospital.
Extending his condolences to Brady’s family and firefighter colleagues, James Brosi, president of the FDNY Uniformed Fire Officers Association (UFOA), said, “Patrick Brady was not only a dedicated firefighter but a proud son of Rockaway, a community that knows courage, sacrifice and service to others. His passing reminds us of the risks every firefighter faces and the bond that unites us all in this profession. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the Brady family and our brothers and sisters of the UFA. Patrick’s bravery, heart and commitment to protecting New York will never be forgotten.”
FDNY members gathered on Sunday, Nov. 9, to place black and purple bunting on the exterior of FDNY Ladder 120 where Brady served.
