DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN —STARTUPS WITH CREATIVE CLIMATE TECHNOLOGY will have the opportunity to compete for a prize to boost their businesses, at an event that the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership is sponsoring on Monday, Oct. 6.
The Make It in Brooklyn Climate Tech Pitch Contest will bring together a cohort of leading Brooklyn-based startups that are creating innovative climate technology. Five of these companies’ founders will vie for the $5,000 prize by delivering their pitches to a panel of expert judges, who represent such companies as National Grid, Newlab and NineDot Energy. Each presentation will be evaluated on several criteria, such as innovation, feasibility, market potential, and impact.
Among the other prizes are advisor services from venture capital platform grIP and from industry expert Rob Watson.
This ticketed event, at $5 per person, is part of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership’s Make It in Brooklyn initiative to bolster entrepreneurship. The DBP holds regular pitch contests, networking meetups and other events and has to date awarded more than $120,000 in prize money and pro bono services to promote startups.
