BROOKLYN — Developer Yitzchok Katz has expanded his Gowanus holdings, purchasing 264 Butler St. for $15.3 million, property records show. The property, owned by Domal Transportation since 1980, contains a 17,400-square-foot, one-story industrial building, for which Katz has filed demolition permits. It sits adjacent to a vacant lot at 172 Third Ave., which Katz acquired in November for $22 million, according to Crain’s New York Business.
Katz has not filed formal plans for either property, but last year applied to enroll 172 Third Ave. in the state’s brownfield cleanup program. That application described an apartment building with ground-floor retail, with 25% affordable units.
Katz, who operates through Goose Property Management and Developing NY State, has become one of Brooklyn’s most active builders. His portfolio includes a planned 367-unit complex in Boerum Hill, a 45-story tower at 570 Fulton St., and two towers at 362 and 370 Livingston St.
Gowanus has been a magnet for development since a 2021 rezoning enabled new housing construction.

SUNSET PARK — “As a resident of Marine Park, one of the great surprises I found biking around Industry City and visiting Japan Village was to discover Bush Terminal Park.
