SUFFOLK COUNTY — Michael Howell, 65, of Brooklyn, was convicted Tuesday on Long Island on multiple charges of sex trafficking, promoting prostitution and drug possession, prosecutors said.
Authorities said Howell used crack, heroin and physical violence to force a woman into prostitution from April 2023 to February 2024, renting hotel rooms and posting ads online. He was arrested Feb. 1 with fentanyl and cocaine in his possession, according to Greater Long Island News.
Howell, originally of Barbados, faces up to 25 years in prison when sentenced Sept. 26. Federal immigration officials have lodged a detainer to deport him after his prison term.
