BOERUM HILL — A KRISHNA FESTIVAL IS EXPECTED TO ATTRACT ABOUT 2,500 people to the Schermerhorn St. corridor in Boerum Hill this Saturday. They will be celebrating the Krishna Janmashtami festival, which has ancient roots. Vaishnavism, a significant branch of Hinduism, worships Lord Krishna. According to Indian scriptures, Lord Krishna appears on Earth to reestablish righteous principles and rescue humanity from spiritual neglect. Janmashtami commemorates the earthly arrival — more than 5,000 years ago — of Lord Krishna.
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is hosting this event at its headquarters at 305 Schermerhorn St. ISKCON’s devotion-based teachings revolve around Bhakti Yoga — the path of loving devotional service to Krishna. Saturday’s Krishna Janmashtami festival, running from 3 p.m. to midnight, welcomes everyone to join this momentous celebration of spirituality, culture and unity.
ISKCON was founded in 1966, when A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada brought the profound Vaishnava tradition to the Western world. ISKCON has since grown to over 600 temples, farms, eco-villages and 100 vegetarian restaurants across six continents.

SUNSET PARK — “As a resident of Marine Park, one of the great surprises I found biking around Industry City and visiting Japan Village was to discover Bush Terminal Park.
