CITYWIDE — A TENTATIVE NEW CONTRACT reached on Monday, May 13, between the city and security officers will include historic wage increases, paid time off for Juneteenth and employer-paid healthcare coverage protection. A bargaining committee composed of 32BJ SEIU security officers and union officials reached a tentative agreement with the Realty Advisory Board for security officers working in New York City. Among other benefits, the contract also includes record wage increases of $3.50 over four years; a ratification bonus; improved job security via an expansion of recall rights; health and safety language; wage increases for new hires based on training incentives; and protected employer-paid healthcare and retirement benefits. The Security Officers of 32BJ SEIU protect iconic New York landmarks, the Municipal Building, the World Trade Center and the 9/11 Memorial, universities, commercial buildings and city-run shelters. Pending ratification votes in the coming weeks, the new agreement will cover thousands of Local 32BJ/SEIU members.
“Thousands of Security Officers fought for and won a historic contract for the essential workers who constantly put themselves on the line so their fellow New Yorkers can go to work and school safely and without worry,” said 32BJ SEIU Vice President and Director of the Security Division Israel Melendez.
