DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — One of the country’s most important defense attorneys right now graduated from Brooklyn Law School.
Todd Blanche, a white-collar defense attorney, joined former President Donald Trump’s legal team on the night before his arraignment to represent him in the case led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
Blanche joined Trump’s legal team as they prepare to face 34 felony counts related to the alleged hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016.
Blanche’s addition to the team is seen as a significant boost, with sources referring to him as “additional firepower.” He will work alongside Susan Necheles and Joseph Tacopina, who have been representing Trump throughout the Bragg-led investigation.
A founding partner of Blanche Law as of April 2023, Todd Blanche is a former federal prosecutor and a graduate of Brooklyn Law School. He spent nearly a decade at the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and has represented notable figures with connections to Trump in various legal cases.
Before joining Trump’s legal team, Blanche was a partner at New York City’s oldest law firm, Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where he specialized in white-collar defense and investigations. Blanche announced his departure from the firm, stating that representing Trump was “an opportunity [he] should not pass up.”
“I have been asked to represent Trump in the recently charged DA case, and after much thought/consideration, I have decided it is the best thing for me to do and an opportunity I should not pass up,” Blanche said.
Blanche, who was born in New York, graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 2003 and was admitted to the bar in New York in February 2004.
Blanche’s experience includes working on cases involving tax fraud, money laundering, Medicaid and federal programs frauds, bank and wire frauds, racketeering, homicides, armed robberies, firearms and narcotics offenses. He has previously represented Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, as well as Igor Fruman, a one-time associate of Rudy Giuliani.
Trump’s decision to hire Blanche comes after reports of the former president struggling to assemble a respected team of defense lawyers.
