10 injured in multi-vehicle accident
Ten people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident in Brooklyn Friday.
According to a preliminary investigation, two cars were headed westbound on Prospect Expressway just before 2 p.m. and were approaching Fourth Avenue when they were involved in an accident. Those two cars had pulled over when a third vehicle crashed into them. That set off a chain reaction of crashes involving four other vehicles including a bus, according to ABC 7.

4-Story building planned for Bed-Stuy
NV Design Architecture recently returned to the Landmarks Preservation Commission with updated proposals to construct a new four-building townhouse development in Brooklyn. Located at 437-441 Lewis Avenue and 39 Chauncey Street, the property is within the Bedford-Stuyvesant Historic District and requires a Certificate of Appropriateness from the commission before construction can begin. Modifications pertain primarily to the façade, which will now be constructed of a more contextual mix of red brick masonry, bluestone mansard roofs, limestone accents, and dark concrete stairs to match adjacent properties, according to New York YIMBY.

Man charged with Williamsburg hit-run
Uri Hochberg, of Edison, N.J. was arrested soon after the fatal Friday afternoon hit-and-run in which police say he fatally struck Laikedra Thomas at Graham Avenue and Broadway in Williamsburg. Her boyfriend, Anthony Lilly, told the Daily News that Thomas was devoted to her two children and “put her kids first.” After the accident, she was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. The couple met on Instagram.

Four stabbed at gambling den
Four men were stabbed, one fatally, during an apparent robbery attempt at an illegal gambling den in Sunset Park. Around 9:20 on Feb. 26, police responded to a 911 call outside of what authorities said appeared to be an illegal gambling location. When they arrive, they found three men, who reportedly had tried to rob the establishment, on the ground with stab wounds. Three of the victims were taken to NYU Langone-Brooklyn Hospital, where one was pronounced dead and the other two were listed in stable condition. The fourth, who had a minor puncture wound, was treated at the scene. There were no suspects at press time.

Man arrested after rape of 62-year-old
A Brooklyn man has been arrested for an alleged attack of a 62-year-old woman in Bed-Stuy, police said. Police say 40-year-old Leroy Hatchier approached the victim from behind, assaulted her and dragged her into an alley where he tried to rape her. Hatcher is charged with attempted rape, assault and forcible touching. The woman was treated for injuries to her face, hand and knee, according to Brooklyn News 12.

Bay Ridge’s Alpine theater to reopen
The Alpine Cinema, the last of Bay Ridge’s movie theaters, has announced plans to reopen in April, according to the Home Reporter. Nick Nicolaou, owner of the theater said that he and his workers decided to “make the best of a bad year” by renovating the cinema from top to bottom. Although Gov. Andrew Cuomo has set March 5 as a date for a reopening of movie theaters in New York City, Nicolaou set April as the opening date because the offerings for films opening in March are not strong enough. The theater was recently hit with $330,000 in property taxes, which Nicolaou called “a stab in the back.”

Yes the Government has an obligation to suspend real estate taxes as well because this pandemic —- because of the mandates not to evict anyone and of course the unemployed – understandably – But if landlords are required to take economic losses well then Government is required to take an economic loss .
