BENSONHURST — On Tuesday, Jan. 7, Councilmember Susan Zhuang presented Seth Low Intermediate School 96 in Bensonhurst with a check representing the $600,000 funding allocation she provided as part of this year’s budget. The school will use this essential funding for laptops.

“I was proud to allocate this funding to Seth Low Intermediate School 96, which will go towards critical technology upgrades in the form of laptops,” said Zhuang. “Special thanks go out to current Principal Christina Monfasani as well as former Principal Eileen Herusso for their strong stewardship of I.S. 96 and the wonderful teachers and support staff, including the PTA, who are there for the students every day. I.S. 96 is a jewel of the New York City Public School system and this funding will go a long way to ensuring that the students continue to have the resources they need in order to succeed.”

This capital funding is part of Zhuang’s strong commitment to ensuring every public school in her district has the resources necessary to help children succeed. As part of this year’s budget, Zhuang allocated or helped allocate over $6.4 million to schools alone. Every school in the district that requested funding received funding.

“As a mother of two public school students, I know first-hand how important our public schools are and the value of a good education,” said Zhuang. “For that reason, I will always fight to ensure that the schools in my district have the funding they need.”
