WASHINGTON D.C. — Keeping her feet out of sight, Bondi displays her tap dancing skills: Attorney General Pam Bondi testifies before a House Judiciary Committee oversight hearing on Capitol Hill, Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026.
The hearing was on the Department of Justice’s handling of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, a financier and sex trafficker with close ties to many powerful people, including the current president.
Bondi repeatedly deflected inquiries from Democrats, criticizing them over crime in their districts instead of answering, wasting the five minutes allotted for each congressperson, with breaks in between from Republicans asking her softball questions.
Bondi was even accused of lying under oath by Rep. Ted Lieu of California. She also refused to apologize to victims exposed in the files.
CUBA — Victims of a world too dependent on oil and a world leader who is partial to trade wars: A man walks his dog along Havana Bay where the Mexican Navy ship Papaloapan arrives, carrying aid according to the Mexican government, Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026.
Cuba has long relied on oil from Venezuela. Since the U.S. captured Venezuela’s president, President Donald Trump has halted those exports, calling on Cuba to make a “deal.” He has also threatened countries with harsh tariffs if they send fuel. The situation is resulting in blackouts and disrupted food distribution, as well as fuel rationing and limited transportation.
Despite claiming his intention to strike a deal, Trump implied he was after another regime change.
ITALY — Apparently, Olympic athletes are to be seen and not heard: Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych holds his crash helmet as he stands outside the sliding center at the 2026 Winter Olympics, in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Thursday.
Heraskevych was disqualified for planning to wear a helmet depicting men, women and children killed in Ukraine’s war with Russia.
The helmet violated the International Olympic Committee’s ban on political speech.
ITALY — A moment of friendship where emotions are high, as athletes train their entire lives for an event that only occurs every 4 years: Bruna Moura, of Brazil, and Nefeli Tita, of Greece, right, speak to each other by the finish line after finishing the cross country skiing women’s 10km interval start free at the 2026 Winter Olympics, in Tesero, Thursday.
PORT-AU-PRINCE — Turmoil and violence so overwhelming, joining a gang seems like the only option: A woman collects water from a puddle in Petion-Ville, Haiti, Wednesday.
The number of children recruited into armed groups tripled last year as Haiti’s lawless conditions continue to decline. Girls are sexually abused and given domestic work.
Many families are faced with extreme poverty and are forced to give up their children for money.
BUENOS AIRES — One wonders — are these public service workers carrying shields, members of a union? A Molotov cocktail bursts into flames in front of police during a march by unions and opposition supporters against a labor reform bill proposed by President Javier Milei’s government in Argentina, on Wednesday.
Critics of the bill believe it will roll back protections for workers, including severance, overtime and vacation. It would also curb the right to strike, make it easier to fire new employees and weaken trade unions.
Milei’s backers claim high severance slows new hiring, and taxes hinder productivity. Either way, his “shock therapy” reforms are taking their toll on his people.
COLOMBIA — Nature’s Revenge — coping with high water and more: Residents carry chickens after the Sinu River overflowed in Monteria, Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026.
Climate change is making rainfall more erratic and increasing the frequency and severity of extreme weather events, as the area has experienced heavy rainfall since late January.
Colombia’s president is calling for higher taxes to fund recovery efforts.
TEHRAN — Iran celebrates the anniversary of one revolution while seemingly on the cusp of another: Members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard stand guard near the Azadi (Freedom) monument during the annual rally commemorating the 1979 Islamic Revolution at Azadi Square in Iran, Wednesday.
The Iranian government is being criticized for its brutal crackdown on nationwide protests over inflation and economic policy.
On top of all that, they’re also having to deal with President Trump, who is signaling increased military presence in the Arabian Sea over Iran’s nuclear program.
