COBBLE HILL — BROOKLYN SUPREME COURT JUDGE Inga O’Neale on Monday granted the city’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit by the Court Street Merchants Association seeking to put the brakes on a protected bike lane along Court Street from Schermerhorn Street to Hamilton Avenue, according to a court filing.
Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens businesses told the Brooklyn Eagle in October that the street’s redesign, which eliminated one of the two driving lanes, was causing traffic jams and costing them customers. They had asked for a restraining order and preliminary injunction on the nearly-completed redesign.
Attorney and safe-street advocate Peter Beadle speculated that the dismissal could bolster the city Department of Transportation’s authority to implement street redesigns, according to StreetsBlog.
