
FORT HAMILTON — A FULL CLOSURE OF THE FORT HAMILTON PARKWAY BRIDGE went into effect Thursday night, Jan. 8, and will continue through Saturday morning, Jan. 10, the NY State Department of Transportation announced. These closures are necessary to facilitate work operations for the NYSDOT project rehabilitating the Fort Hamilton Parkway bridge over the Gowanus Expressway (I-278), but inclement weather may force rescheduling of the project and closures.
Motorists are advised that the bridge will be closed from 10 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following morning. The overnight closures will continue Monday, Jan. 12, through Saturday, Jan. 17, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Please note that the B16 and B70 bus stops may be rerouted during these closures.
The DOT has established detours: To access 86th St., take Exit 17 (92nd St. )off the westbound Gowanus Expressway and follow signage. Motorists needing to enter the westbound Gowanus Expwy. should take Exit 20 (6th Ave). Motorists needing the eastbound Gowanus Expwy. should take Exit 18 to the eastbound service road.
