
GREENWOOD HEIGHTS — Leland Eating and Drinking House has partnered with Heritage Foods, a NYC-based wholesale company that works to preserve endangered species of livestock from extinction, for a rooftop barbecue. The barbecue takes place on Wednesday, July 24, at Heritage’s spacious three-story warehouse, chef’s kitchen and rooftop in Greenwood Heights.
Attendees will enjoy chef-driven barbecue fare from Leland’s kitchen, along with curated beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Sponsors include Norwich Meadows Farm, Greenpoint Fish, Dock to Dish, Faccia Brutto, Julia Gin, Della Terra, Halftone and San Pellegrino.
According to Edible Schoolyard’s Mission statement, this nonprofit organization is “dedicated to the transformation of public education by using organic school gardens, kitchens, and cafeterias to teach both academic subjects and the values of nourishment, stewardship and community.” Several Brooklyn schools participate in the Edible Schoolyard program, according to an interactive map on the organization’s website. These include the Brighter Choice Community School in Bed-Stuy and PS 216/the Arturo Toscanini School in Gravesend.
