BROOKLYN – A GROUP OF 1,000 Federation of Nurses/UFT nurses at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn on Tuesday filed a notice announcing their intention to strike on March 1, over salary increases and what the nurses say is chronic understaffing that endangers patients, reports Gothamist. The hospital has previously been fined for violating mandated staff-to-patient ratios; the union says these violations are routine and that its members have filed thousands of complaints.
The hospital said it remains “committed” and “optimistic” about contract negotiations, but did not respond to Gothamist’s questions on the understaffing claims.
