CONEY ISLAND—A LONG-AWAITED SAFETY UPGRADE PROJECT to the historic Riegelmann Boardwalk connecting Coney Island and Brighton Beach is the subject of a press conference that state Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton will convene onsite on Wednesday.
Scarcella-Spanton will advocate for safety upgrades to the boardwalk as part of a project that was originally initiated in February 2021. The press conference will take place at the Riegelmann Boardwalk and West 5th Street. Joining Scarcella-Spanton at the 1 p.m. rally will be Community Board 13; Brighton Beach BID leadership; residents and community members.
The project’s design phase has been completed and it is currently in the procurement phase, according to the NYC Parks Department website.
