PARK SLOPE – FOUR PARK SLOPE community groups will host an outdoor potluck picnic at the Fifth Avenue Open Streets on May 2. Inspired by the idea of shared tables, the Park Slope Picnic invites neighbors to meet one another and enjoy a relaxed lunch outdoors, organizers said. Attendees should bring food to share, as well as tableware and utensils; tables, chairs and live music will be provided.
Baking enthusiasts can also compete for the first-place prize in the dessert contest. Homemade entries should be labeled with the baker’s name and ingredients and placed on the dessert table for judging and sharing.
The picnic is sponsored by The Old Stone House, Park Slope Parents, the Park Slope Civic Council and the Park Slope 5th Avenue Business Improvement District, with the support of the Department of Transportation.
“Events like this remind us that Park Slope is more than just a place to live – it’s a neighborhood where people know each other, support each other, and feel a sense of belonging,” said Donna Stein of the Park Slope Civic Council, in the announcement
The event will take place Saturday, May 2, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., on the Fourth Street Plaza, off of Fifth Avenue.The picnic is free, open to all and fully accessible, according to the organizers. Attendees are asked to RSVP through the BID’s website, to ensure adequate seating.
