The Macy’s July 4 Fireworks Extravaganza launched from the Brooklyn Bridge and barges in the East River. This year, the show — aside from crowd favorites “crackling crown jellyfish” and comet fans — included 80,000 shells, 30 different colors and 11 new effects, reaching 1,000 feet over the East River, dazzling Brooklyn viewers lucky enough to get a viewing spot.
