PROSPECT LEFFERTS GARDEN — NYC HEALTH + HOSPITALS on Tuesday unveiled a new mural at Kings County Hospital’s Wellness and Recovery Center. Titled “We Gon’ Be Alright,” the mural was developed by artist Fitgi Saint-Louis, and celebrates diversity and recovery from addiction, showcasing “the resilience and unity of individuals reclaiming their lives” and “highlighting the deep connections forged through shared struggles and triumphs” of the hospital’s patients. Saint-Louis, a New York-based Haitian diaspora artist, had a temporary studio space within the clinic, where daily interactions during open studio hours took place. The mural was completed with the input of community members, staff and patients, and was then brought to life at a group “paint party.”
The mural was commissioned as part of the Community Mural Project, a program begun in the 1930s as part of the depression-era Works Progress Administration and now the city’s largest public art collection.

SUNSET PARK — “As a resident of Marine Park, one of the great surprises I found biking around Industry City and visiting Japan Village was to discover Bush Terminal Park. I continue to be amazed at the serene hideaways that the city offers in some of the busiest places — and, still, with an iconic view.”

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — ‘A miracle that no one was killed …’ That’s what neighbors are saying about the collapse of the Hotel St. George marquee.
