âWhereâs our park? Right here,â the crowd chanted, waving handmade signs reading âParks, Not Parkingâ and âParks Are For People.â

Once known as âThe Waldorf-Astoria of Brooklyn,â the Hotel Bossert is a leftover from Brooklynâs grander era.

âWe marched to honor those who are no longer with us and to bring New Yorkers together,â said the leadership team at Five Borough Veterans.

The speakers, who ranged from imams to ministers to councilmembers, called Vernikovâs comment âdangerousâ and âincendiary.”

Willowtown is a shady enclave tucked into the southwest corner of Brooklyn Heights. The fair has popped up every spring for four decades.

The city is adding trips across high-demand routes, including more weekend trips, bigger vessels and the return of the âRockaway Rocket.â

Some kids like glue sticks and glitter. Others like rampaging through tunnels or shooting bows and arrows.Â

Though only the second year for the gigantic get-together, the event has already become a beloved neighborhood tradition.
