Happy Friday! Set on correcting a clear gender imbalance in the city’s public spaces, Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen and First Lady Chirlane McCray teamed up with She Built NYC, a campaign formed in June that is commissioning statues of trailblazing women in each of the five boroughs. In November, the city and the group announced that Chisholm’s statue would be erected at the Ocean Avenue entrance of Prospect Park. The city recently unveiled the five final artist renderings for the planned monument. Let us know which one you like best!

YEGER MAY LOSE COMMITTEE SEAT OVER “DEHUMANIZING” PALESTINE TWEETS
City Council Speaker Corey Johnson said Thursday that he was “uncomfortable” with Councilmember Kalman Yeger being on the Committee on Immigration and called Yeger’s comments “dehumanizing” toward Palestinians. Then in the evening, 20 protesters showed up outside Yeger’s office, but were outnumbered by hundreds who came to support the councilman.
AD BARGE COMPANY CLAIMS CITY HAS ‘NO AUTHORITY’ OVER STATE-OWNED WATER
Mayor Bill de Blasio filed a lawsuit seeking to ban a 60-foot-wide advertising barge from operating around New York. “Our waterways aren’t Times Square,” de Blasio said. “These floating eyesores have no place on them.”

Peter Bray announced he’s stepping down at the end of June because of a serious health issue in his family, and the BHA has begun a search for a new director.

Comptroller Scott Stringer told a resident on Tuesday that he will run for mayor. Though he hasn’t officially declared his 2021 candidacy, Stringer has been fundraising and speaking broadly about a campaign since earlier this year.
