The Aviator Sports and Events Center’s indoor fa

The Aviator Sports and Events Center’s indoor facility at Floyd Bennett Field will be permanently closing on April 14, management said in an announcement on Monday.

The space is 175,000 square feet and hosts indoor sports, entertainment and recreation.

They cited several factors for its struggles such as economic downturns, Superstorm Sandy, government shutdowns, COVID-19, and a migrant camp outside its front door.

Hey, America: Give the Statue of Liberty back to France.

So says a French politician who is making headlines in his country for suggesting that the U.S. is no longer worthy of the monument, which was a gift from France nearly 140 years ago.

Raphaël Glucksmann, as a member of the European Parliament and co-president of a small left-wing party in France, can’t claim to speak for all of his compatriots.

But his assertion in a speech this weekend that some Americans “have chosen to switch to the side of the tyrants” reflects the broad shockwaves that U.S. President Donald Trump’s seismic shifts in foreign and domestic policy are triggering in France and elsewhere in Europe.

A Brooklyn-based architect and urban planner has d

A Brooklyn-based architect and urban planner has developed an innovative design to replace the decrepit Triple Cantilever section of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, and it has received high initial marks from engineers and stakeholders.

The “Streamline Plan,” by Marc Wouters Studios, represents a complete break with previous proposals from the New York City Department of Transportation, which require the teardown of the entire cantilever structure, including the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, and the construction of a temporary “parallel” bypass highway, which would also ultimately have to be torn down.

The plan, which Wouters shared with the Brooklyn Eagle, would preserve the entire cantilever, eliminate the need for extensive demolition and reconstruction, and would take significantly less time and money than any of NYCDOT’s current reconstruction proposals.

On Saturday, a posting on Indivisible brought approximately 200 picketers to protest Elon Musk at the Tesla dealership at 9th Street and Second Avenue in Gowanus.

The organizer, who identified herself only as Catherine T., said, “I can’t imagine that we aren’t out in the streets every day protesting this administration. It’s just criminal what they’re doing. And Musk, particularly, is self-dealing and sending himself billions of dollars of contracts of government money. Our tax money is going to the richest man in the world, and he’s in charge of deciding who gets it.”
