Get your paddles ready because a new pickleball fa

Get your paddles ready because a new pickleball facility is opening in Gowanus on Sunday.

PKLYN, located on Fourth Street between Hoyt and Bond streets, will have five courts across the 18,000-square-foot facility.

Founder and Managing Partner David Friedman got the idea for PKLYN during the COVID-19 pandemic. Though a long-time player, he got most interested in pickleball when he found a community of players at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 2 and played the game daily with a regular group.

Grown adults wearing stuffed dolls and dressed as mythical anime characters took over Cadman Plaza Park in Downtown Brooklyn this summer, and it couldn’t have been more enchanting.

As part of anime weekend in New York City, hundreds of fans of ‘hololive’ gathered in the park to cosplay, buy merchandise and celebrate the group’s concerts at the Javits Center and Brooklyn’s Kings Theater during Anime NYC 2024.

Prince Harry said today’s youth is in the midst

Prince Harry said today’s youth is in the midst of an “epidemic” of anxiety, depression and social isolation due to negative experiences online, as he brought his campaign to help children and their parents navigate cyberspace to this week’s Clinton Global Initiative.

“These platforms are designed to create addiction,” Harry, 40, said in remarks Tuesday in New York City.

Ice skating will be back at Emily Warren Roebling

Ice skating will be back at Emily Warren Roebling Plaza under the Brooklyn Bridge this winter — and while the views will still be spectacular, the skating will be more affordable.

Admission will cost just $10 for all ages and all times, with no peak pricing, and with equally-affordable skate rentals. Last year’s peak price for an out-of-town adult was as high as $25.
