Hon. Genine D. Edwards, recently appointed administrative judge of the Kings County Supreme Court’s Civil Term, is seen at the courthouse in Downtown Brooklyn. Edwards, a veteran jurist with nearly two decades on the bench, currently presides over the Medical Malpractice ADR Part and has been a leader in Brooklyn’s legal community through her roles with the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association and the Association of Justices of the Supreme Court of the City of New York.     The Federal Courthouse in Downtown Brooklyn was ev The Federal Courthouse in Downtown Brooklyn was evacuated for hours on Thursday as FDNY, NYPD, Emergency Services and HAZMAT responded to a report of a delivery of a suspicious package containing an unknown substance.

Courthouse personnel were told to just drop what they were doing and get out.

Police told the Brooklyn Eagle that they received a call of a suspicious package at 10:35 a.m., while an FDNY spokesperson said they received a report of a suspicious substance — a white powder.

    On May 17, tragedy struck beneath the Brooklyn Bri On May 17, tragedy struck beneath the Brooklyn Bridge when the Mexican Navy’s tall ship Cuauhtémoc collided with the overpass. 

Two young cadets lost their lives in a heartbreaking accident, and the proud vessel was severely damaged — but not defeated.

Today, a memorial shrine in Brooklyn Bridge Park honors their memory — and the courage that continues to sail on.

    The annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Show thi The annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Show this year will launch from the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and four surrounding barges in the East River at the Seaport District, Mayor Eric Adams and Macy’s announced on Wednesday. 

This year’s show will feature thousands of shells and an array of effects from barges positioned along the East River, with multiple viewing opportunities in Manhattan and Queens, and comes as New York City celebrates its 400th anniversary in 2025.
