NEW YORK — INDEPENDENT MAYORAL CANDIDATE Jim Walden on Friday announced that the 4,000-member New York City Police Department Retired Sergeants Association has endorsed his candidacy for mayor of NYC. In a letter, RSA President Robert Cotumaccio cited Walden’s history of support for police officers, public service retirees, public housing and more, and his pledge to fight against waste and fraud at City Hall. “Jim has demonstrated that he is the most forward-facing mayoral candidate running, pledging his support to law enforcement, including rank-and-file NYPD officers. He understands policing and all its challenges,” Cotumaccio said in the endorsement.

Walden, a former prosecutor, has received strong backing from law-enforcement organizations, including 58 former federal and local prosecutors, along with the 250,000-member NYC Organization of Public Service Retirees.
