Bushwick dog club supports autistic adults

BUSHWICK — PAWSABILITY DOG CLUB, a nonprofit doggy daycare in Brooklyn’s Bushwick, is training autistic and neurodivergent adults for pet care careers, PIX11 reports in a feature highlighting Autism Acceptance Month. Operating for three years, the program offers free job training and placement support. Executive Director Jillian Forman said 40% of staff are autistic or neurodivergent, and the club was inspired by the founders’ loved ones who struggled post-high school.
Trainees like Emaly Serrano find working with dogs reduces anxiety. The club is currently fundraising to sustain its mission.
