Foiled! $1.5 million attempted jewelry heist at Macy’s

DOWNTOWN — A MAN ENTERED Downtown Brooklyn’s Macy’s late Monday night and tried to abscond with $1.5 million worth of jewelry — but was foiled by an alert store employee.
Police said that the unidentified man entered the store, located at 422 Fulton St., at roughly 10:15 p.m. Once the store was closed, the would-be burglar concealed approximately $1.5 million worth of jewelry in suitcases and fled. He was confronted by the employee, however, leading him to abandon the loot and flee. No one was hurt in the attempt, police said — but they would like the public’s help finding the suspect.
