PARK SLOPE – THE CITY COUNCILS Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises and Committee on Land Use are set to hold a vote on Wednesday on several rezoning applications, including for a project in Park Slope that would rezone the former Arrow Linen industrial site on Prospect Avenue to allow for the construction of a pair of high-rise towers. The plan has generated fierce debate within the neighborhood: supporters say that the area is in desperate need of new housing and that the proposed mix of affordable and market-rate units would deliver for residents, while opponents have criticized the height of the proposed development on the low-rise block – the towers could be up to 19 stories tall – and have argued that the site’s owners should be seeking instead to construct a lower-height, fully affordable complex.
The vote will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. at 230 Broadway; several other zoning proposals from around the city will also be addressed.
