3-5 inches of snow forecast over the weekend

CITYWIDE – NEW YORK CITY is under a winter storm watch this weekend, with snow accumulation expected from Saturday evening into Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Between three and five inches are forecast for the city, with accumulation of six or more inches unlikely but possible. The NWS is warning travelers to consider delaying plans and to take caution on icy roads. Areas north of the city may experience seven inches or more. Flights at major airports are currently experiencing delays due to ice; conditions may deteriorate as the storm approaches.
The city’s Department of Homeless Services has declared a Code Blue alert; New Yorkers who see people on the street who appear to be without shelter or in distress are asked to call 311, so that the city can dispatch an outreach team to assist.
