Students, teachers encouraged to participate in voter engagement trainings

PROSPECT HEIGHTS — A CIVICS WEEK TRAINING COURSE for students and teachers will be held on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 4 at the Central Library of the Brooklyn Public Library. The NYC Campaign Finance Board, which runs NYC Votes and Civics For All Week (observed March 10 to 14) is offering a set of interactive Voter Registration Trainings across the five boroughs. Attendees will be trained on how to plan and host a voter engagement event during Civics For All’s annual Civics Week. Students and teachers will learn effective ways to spread the word about voting. This is an opportunity for teachers and student leaders to engage their school and community ahead of an important election cycle (which includes the primaries) for Mayor, City Comptroller, Public Advocate, Borough Presidents as well as City Council. Students will be provided with refreshments. Registration is necessary. Two virtual events, on February 6 and 27, are also being offered for those who cannot make it Tuesday.
Participants could also earn service hours for the training and for planning/hosting the voter engagement events.
