Sen. Scarcella-Spanton honored as Legislator of the Year by NY Red Cross

STATEN ISLAND & SOUTHERN BROOKLYN — STATE SEN. JESSICA SCARCELLA-SPANTON has been recognized as Legislator of the Year by the Greater New York Chapter of the American Red Cross. The award honors her dedication to emergency preparedness and disaster response, particularly through her work on the Red Cross’ Home Fire Campaign, an initiative aimed at reducing house and apartment fire-related deaths and injuries, with families in Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn.
“I am truly grateful to be recognized by the Greater New York Chapter of the American Red Cross,” said Scarcella-Spanton in a press statement. “This past summer, I had the opportunity to work alongside their incredible team to install smoke detectors for families in need throughout my district. Fire safety is a serious concern, and it’s so important that we continue to raise awareness and make sure that every New Yorker understands the importance of being prepared.”
The American Red Cross in New York State celebrated legislators from across the region in Albany, recognizing their support in advancing the organization’s life-saving mission.
