Man stabbed to death in Bushwick

BUSHWICK – POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING the death of Shaliek Smith, age 24, of Greene Avenue, who was found dead at around 3:39 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 1123 Halsey St. Officers responding to a 911 call for an assault discovered Smith alive, with a stab wound to the chest. EMS transported him to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The NYPD told the New York Post that investigators believe five or six men in dark clothing approached Smith and stabbed him in the chest, before the group fled south on Halsey Street.

There are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
