Red Hook Tavern team opening Cambodian restaurant

RED HOOK — BUN CHEAM AND CAIT CALLAHAN, the executive chef and general manager at Red Hook Tavern, are launching Hōp, a Cambodian restaurant at 358 Van Brunt St. Cheam says the eatery will fuse his Cambodian roots with French influences.
Slated to open later this year, Hōp will feature a diverse menu offering Cambodian breakfast selections and dinner options inspired by street food, such as grilled meats and noodles. Eater NY reports that this new addition joins a growing slate of Cambodian restaurants, such as Clinton Hill’s Lula Mae.
Co-owner Billy Durney, known for Red Hook Tavern and Hometown Bar-B-Que, will help fund the venture but entrusts Cheam and Callahan, who are married, with creative control to infuse authenticity and innovation.
