BROOKLYN — THE BROOKLYN BOTANIC GARDEN is set to showcase a rare event: the blooming of the corpse flower, scientifically known as Amorphophallus Gigas. Expected to blossom sometime this week, the flower releases an odor similar to rotting flesh to lure pollinating insects, according to Gothamist. Located in the garden’s Aquatic House, the corpse flower’s spectacle attracts botanists and the public, offering a rare sensory experience. BBG urges visitors to visit their website and social media to nail down exactly when the bloom is taking place.

Open from Tuesday to Sunday, the garden invites visitors to witness this extraordinary event, with pay-what-you-wish admission during “winter weekdays.”

Friday, Jan. 24 edit: The corpse flower bloomed. Read the Brooklyn Eagle coverage here.
