MLK Jr. Day altered scheduling for subways and buses

BROOKLYN & CITYWIDE — THE MTA HAS ANNOUNCED adjusted transit schedules in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 20.
Most subway lines, along with the Staten Island Railway, will run on regular weekday schedules. However, the M train will operate between Metropolitan Avenue and Myrtle Avenue, while J trains will run from Hewes Street to Jamaica Center. Z train service will be suspended, and shuttle buses will replace service between Essex Street and Hewes Street. Due to ongoing resiliency projects in the Rockaways, A trains and the Rockaway Park Shuttle will not run between Howard Beach-JFK Airport and the Rockaways. Free shuttle buses will operate along two routes to serve affected areas.
Buses across the city will follow a modified weekday schedule, with some express routes adjusted. Paratransit service through Access-A-Ride will operate as normal, providing full 24/7 coverage.
The MTA encourages customers to check real-time updates through its various platforms, including the MTA app, TrainTime app, and mta.info. Commuters can also follow @MTA on X or dial 511 for assistance.
