NYPD seeks persons who shot gun from moving moped

WILLIAMSBURG — THE NYPD is asking the public to help identify two individuals who discharged a weapon while riding a moped in Williamsburg on the evening of New Year’s Day. 

Police received a report about two individuals riding on a moped on the sidewalk in front of 75 Humboldt Street in Williamsburg at around 7:35 p.m.  One of the individuals displayed a firearm and discharged it multiple times from the moving moped. The individuals then fled on the moped, heading westbound on Moore Street. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the confidential NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X @NYPDTips.

The NYPD’s CompStat report for the 90th Precinct, which covers Williamsburg, did not show this incident as it covered the following week, January 6-12, 2025. The release itself was not issued until Wednesday night January 15, two weeks after the incident.
